Relationship and Sex Education Consultation
From September 2020, it is a statutory requirement that all schools in England and Wales are teaching Relationship and Sex Education as a fundamental part of the curriculum.
As part of implementing the RSE curriculum, schools must consult with the children, parents, staff and governors to ensure there is a general consensus on our approaches to policy and the curriculum content.
St Joseph’s Catholic Infant and Junior Schools consultation will run between 20th May 2020 to 10th July 2020. The extended period is due to the current Covid-19 situation and to ensure that all stakeholders have time to read, understand and send your viewpoints for a full consultation.
The two documents we ask you to read are:
- School policy for Relationship and Sex Education
- Relationship and Sex Education Curriculum Outline
- (These are available to download by clicking on the link above or the picture of them below)
Westminster Diocese created a parent power-point for us to share with you to give as much information about the curriculum. To access this PowerPoint please click here.
In addition, we have included samples of curriculum resources that the children would be using appropriate to their different age groups. To access these resources please click here.
Electronic versions of these policies have been e-mailed to parents using your e-mail linked to parent pay as well as available to download from both school’s websites and the school APP. If you would like a paper copy please request one via e-mail and we will post these to you.
If you wish to share your views on this for consideration during the consultation please e-mail:
firstname.lastname@example.org (for the infant school)
email@example.com (for the junior school)
The deadline for responding to the consultation is 10th July 2020.
