Healthy Schools

Health and well-being Parents Meeting

On Friday 29th November 2019, we were lucky enough to have the Brent Health team attend our school to run a parental workshop about maintaining a healthy lifestyle for them and their children.  Thank you for the parents who attended and we are hoping to run specific workshops on the areas you identified to support you further in the near future.

Gold! Gold! Gold!

Healthy Schools 2018-2019 Gold!

We are very pleased to announce that our school has been awarded the Gold status for healthy school and we are only the second school in Brent to have received this award. To gain this award we produced a plan of action which pursued an area which would benefit the health of our children. In the Juniors we have been promoting the daily mile and targeting the less active members of our school. In the infants we have also been promoting the daily mile and dental health. Our travel plan for which we have also gained ‘Gold’ status adds to the healthy schools programme by encouraging walking/cycling and scooting to school and discourages driving.

STARS Gold status

This London wide programme entitled STARS (Sustainable travel: Active, Responsible, Safe) is TfL's accreditation scheme for London schools and nurseries. STARS inspires young Londoners to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly and safely by championing walking, scooting and cycling. We believe we are doing that well but there is always room for improvement. We encourage the use of the church car park which is a short walk away and also nearby streets where parking is free on non-event days. STARS supports pupils' well-being, helps to reduce congestion at the school gates and improve road safety and air quality.

School Games Mark (Gold Status)

The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress. We are a successful sporting school and more children have represented Brent and our school at the London School/youth games since 1994. We are one of only three schools to have this Gold Status.
We are the only school in Brent to be holding Gold in all three areas. What a fantastic achievement!
